Posting Guidelines

Tagging, rating, sourcing, and grouping are what make boorus/imageboards so handy for archiving and organizing artwork!
As such, it's very important to follow best practices when posting new artwork, which have been listed here for reference.
Before you start uploading art or adding/editing tags, PLEASE read through this page first!

I. POST TAGGING
✦ Formatting
Keep all tags written in lowercase!
Punctuation marks such as (), _, and ' are fine, but other marks should be kept out.
This helps avoid confusion on how certain tags (especially names) should be written.
If you find any tags that are written in uppercase by mistake, please comment so it can be fixed through board admin features.

✦ Categories
When uploading a new post, make sure to include the artist's username, the name(s) of the character(s), and the name(s) of any depicted series.
These can be done by entering artist:name, character:name, and series:name in the tag list respectively.
If a submission includes music, please add music:track artist - track title as well if you know the source.

✦ Usefulness
Additional tags to describe the post's content can be very helpful, but avoid tagging subjectively or incorrectly!
Always use existing tags whenever possible, and only create new tags if necessary.

✦ Consistency
When adding a new tag to describe a work, refer to how they're described on the Danbooru Wiki, as we'll often be using that as a reference.
You can also check if a tag has a wiki page on Danbooru once it's set on the post, by clicking on the ? next to it.
While we may need to create new tags to cater to Juniper's designs specifically, this saves us from having to reinvent the wheel with most tags.

✦ Differentiation
Many of Juniper's models have alternate designs/costumes or design revisions (e.g. Hunter's short hairstyle + eyepatch, Librarian's long hairstyle)
While some are separated by name, others are still similar enough at their core to be considered the same model.
Thus, it's best to use tags like official_alternate_costume, official_alternate_hairstyle, or official_alternate_hair_length to help differentiate them.
For unofficial design differences, use alternate_costume, alternate_hairstyle, alternate_hair_length, alternate_eye_color, etc.

II. POST RATING
Make sure that all posts are rated appropriately!
This way, we can avoid having certain kinds of content appear where they shouldn't.
If you're not sure what counts as safe, questionable, or explicit, refer to the criteria below:

✦ Safe
  • Nothing sexualized or inappropriate to view in front of others
  • SFW (Safe For Work)

✦ Questionable
  • Skimpy or revealing clothes, swimsuits, underwear
  • Images focused on the breasts or ass in a sexually suggestive context
  • Suggestive gestures, but no explicit or heavily-implied sex acts
  • Near-nudity and cameltoe/nipple imprints, but no exposed genitals or nipples/areolae
  • Mild to moderate graphic violence, heavy drug use or swearing

✦ Explicit
  • Explicit or heavily-implied sex acts
  • Exposed genitals, nipples/areolae
  • Sex toys, condoms, bodily fluids
  • Extremely graphic violence, gore
  • NSFW (Not Safe For Work)
For posts that feature NSFW content, please only use tags that describe them in a somewhat SFW manner.
NSFW tags will populate the Tag List and Autocomplete features regardless of users' rating filters, which is why we're avoiding them.

III. POST SOURCING
Proper credit and attribution are a must.
If you are uploading another artist's work, make sure to link to their original post!
This lets users know where they can go to support the artists, which we strongly encourage.
Should the original post no longer exist, a link to the artist's social media profile will suffice.
If you are uploading your own work, feel free to link to where it's posted elsewhere!

IV. POST GROUPING
For works that have alternate variants, please keep them grouped together by setting the first artwork as the parent post for all other works in the collection.
You can do so by setting the Parent value at the bottom to the desired post's ID number, which is shown in both the post's URL and in the description on the left.
You can also create an image pool with a name and specific image order, which helps for artworks that belong in a series (such as comics).

V. RECOMMENDATIONS
Having trouble finding the source? Try using these reverse image look-up tools:
IQDB
SauceNAO
ascii2d
Google Images/Lens

Danbooru has an automatic tagging tool that predicts tags to use for anime-style images.
You're welcome to use this tool if you're unsure where to start with adding tags.
However, always manually review and curate the tags it picks, as many of them may be inaccurate.
If you'd like to give it a try, check it out here:
